We have decided to postpone the Helping Hometown Heroes 5K and 1 Mile Walk until Saturday, November 7, 2020, due to concerns about the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). We have also moved the location to Blakely Borough Recreational Complex.
Our committee has diligently monitored the updates and recommendations from medical professionals in our region, as well as from the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). In an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone our race for the safety of our community.
In May 2019, Helping Heroes NEPA held our inaugural Helping Hometown Heroes 5k and 1 Mile Walk to benefit Keystone Warriors. We had approximately 250 participants and raised over $6,000 to help Keystone Warriors provide resources for veterans in Pennsylvania. We had a beautiful, sunny day and were able to enjoy the Northeast Pennsylvania Armed Forces Day Parade following our event.
